Torreense to host Sunderland in historic first European home game after cup shock

Portuguese second-tier side Torreense make their Europa League debut this season after stunning Sporting to win the Taca de Portugal in May. They host Sunderland on Thursday in their first-ever European home match, played 47 miles away in Leiria because their own stadium fails Uefa criteria, with a guaranteed £4.2m windfall and 19 new signings bolstering the squad.
