Alonso and Russell Back Hamilton for Ferrari Success Amidst Challenging Start
Lewis Hamilton has received strong backing from former teammates Fernando Alonso and George Russell to overcome his initial struggles at Ferrari and achieve success with the Italian racing team. Hamilton, who made a highly anticipated switch from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season, has faced a challenging start, admitting to being "downbeat" after recent qualifying sessions.

Alonso: "Lewis is a Fighter"
Fernando Alonso, who partnered Hamilton in their rookie season at McLaren in 2007, emphasized Hamilton's resilience. "Lewis is a fighter," Alonso stated, acknowledging the difficulty any driver faces when not performing to their potential. "I'm sure he's going to continue," he added, while also admitting that as a rival, he hopes to beat Hamilton.
Having spent five years with Ferrari himself, Alonso possesses intimate knowledge of the team and the demands placed upon its drivers. He offered counsel to Hamilton, stating, "Lewis doesn't need to prove anything. He's an incredible driver, and he will figure out sooner or later to be at the top pace. He and Ferrari will always be a combo that you need to respect a lot."
Russell’s Supportive Words
George Russell, Hamilton's teammate at Mercedes from 2022 to 2024, also expressed his support. "We did speak away from the track before Hungary. I think it's a tough situation for him, for any driver who doesn't perform at their best. But if there's one person who can turn things around, it's Lewis," Russell remarked.
The 2025 season has been a period of adjustment for Hamilton, but with the backing of his peers and his own track record of success, fans and analysts alike remain optimistic about his future with Ferrari.
