Chelsea Recalls Nicolas Jackson, Bayern Munich Transfer Off Amid Liam Delap Injury
Chelsea Halts Bayern Transfer, Recalls Nicolas Jackson After Delap Injury
Chelsea has made a sudden U-turn on the impending transfer of striker Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich, opting instead to retain the player at Stamford Bridge. This swift change of plans comes directly after a significant injury sustained by fellow Blues forward Liam Delap during Chelsea's recent triumph over Fulham.
The unexpected recall has left Bayern Munich's sporting director, Max Eberl, confirming the cancellation of the deal. Eberl revealed that Chelsea informed them of their decision to bring Jackson back, even though the player had already traveled to Munich and was on the verge of undergoing a medical examination. Jackson had reportedly fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, making his potential move to Germany seem like a logical step.
Speaking on the development, Eberl stated, Chelsea have informed us that they want the player back after we reached an agreement yesterday and [permission] to conduct a medical. Now the situation is that the boy is in Munich and we have to send him back.
He further added, That's the current state of affairs, but I can't look into the future.
Adding to the dramatic turn of events, Jackson's agent, Diomansy Kamara, had previously expressed his enthusiasm for the transfer on social media, posting a telling message: The plane doesn't go backwards... Munich.
This sentiment perfectly captured the initial anticipation surrounding the move, which has now been abruptly halted.

Since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, the 24-year-old Jackson has been a consistent presence, scoring 30 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions for the London club. While his goal tally is slightly below his expected goals of 36.6, he averages a goal every 202 minutes, showcasing his attacking contribution. His continued presence will now be crucial for Chelsea, especially in light of Delap's absence.
