Yoane Wissa Demands Brentford Exit, Citing Broken Promises Amidst Newcastle Interest

Brentford's prolific striker, Yoane Wissa, has sent shockwaves through the Premier League transfer window by publicly demanding to leave the club, accusing the hierarchy of reneging on explicit promises. In a heartfelt statement posted on social media, the 28-year-old Congolese international revealed his deep disappointment, stating, "I was given assurances, including written confirmation, that the club would not prevent my exit if a reasonable offer was made."

Wissa articulated that he had made his desire for a new challenge clear to Brentford's senior management and new head coach early in the summer, actively pursuing a transfer while keeping the club fully informed. However, as the transfer deadline looms, Wissa alleges that Brentford has significantly altered its stance, now obstructing his departure despite a formal offer from another Premier League club, which he wishes to accept.

Yoane Wissa has publicly requested to leave Brentford.

Expressing his fear that staying beyond the transfer window would "tarnish four wonderful years at this incredible club," Wissa appealed to the owners and directors to honor their promise. He emphasized his unwavering commitment during his tenure at Brentford and thanked the fans for their support, wishing to leave on amicable terms.

Newcastle United has been strongly linked with Wissa, reportedly making multiple bids in their search for attacking reinforcements, potentially as a replacement for Alexander Isak should he depart for Liverpool. Their most recent offer is believed to be an initial £35 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons, although some reports suggest a £40 million plus £5 million add-ons offer was made.

However, Brentford is reportedly holding out for a more substantial figure, believed to be around £60 million for their top Premier League goalscorer. Despite the valuation gap and the club's current stance, Wissa remains determined to secure his move to St James' Park before the window closes.
