Flick Confident Barcelona Will Retain Fermín López Despite Chelsea Interest

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reiterated his confidence that promising midfielder Fermín López will remain at the club despite strong interest from Chelsea. The Premier League side has reportedly submitted an initial offer of €40 million for the 22-year-old, falling short of Barcelona's valuation of €90 million.

Speaking ahead of Barcelona's upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano, Flick emphasized López's importance to the team. "At the moment, he is here. I spoke with him, of course, and I am convinced that he will continue," Flick stated. "I'll be very happy when the window closes. I told him my opinion, that he should stay. Football is a big business, but he loves Barça, and the club is in his heart."

Flick also praised López's versatility and work ethic, highlighting his ability to operate between the lines and contribute both defensively and offensively. "When he's in a good mood, he's a great footballer. He can help the team a lot," Flick added.

Despite the transfer speculation, López has remained focused on his performances, featuring in Barcelona's opening league win this season. However, the club's financial situation has led to rumors of potential player sales before the transfer deadline. Flick acknowledged the unpredictability of the market but expressed his desire for all current players to stay.

Barcelona enters their next match against Rayo Vallecano as favorites, looking to maintain their perfect start to the season under Flick. The German manager has yet to lose any of his five away league games against Madrid-based teams.
