Cody Gakpo Extends Stay at Anfield with New Long-Term Liverpool Deal
Cody Gakpo Commits Future to Liverpool with New Long-Term Contract
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract, solidifying his commitment to the Anfield club. The Dutch international, whose previous deal was set to run until June 2028, has expressed immense excitement about continuing his journey with the Reds and pursuing further silverware.
Since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, Gakpo has become an integral part of Liverpool's attacking force. His impressive statistics include 42 goals and 19 assists across 131 appearances in all competitions. He played a pivotal role in the club's Premier League triumph last season and was also a key member of the squad that lifted the EFL Cup in 2024.

Speaking about his new deal, Gakpo shared his sentiments: "It feels amazing to extend the contract here at this beautiful club. I'm very grateful, and hopefully I can give back many more beautiful moments. I feel at home, my family feels at home and that's also a big decision always. I'm very grateful that I can extend."
Looking ahead, Gakpo is focused on building on the team's recent successes and aiming for more glory. "I think we have a very good squad at the moment, and we're trying to build on something special again. Last season, we won the league, so we have to defend it with the best of our capabilities. We want to also win the Champions League and the other cups, so that’s what we are going for," he added, outlining the high ambitions within the squad.
Beyond Gakpo's new contract, Liverpool remains active in the transfer market under new manager Arne Slot. The club is reportedly eyeing defensive reinforcements like Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and has also shown interest in Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak. Slot has already moved to strengthen the squad with new additions including Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Hugo Ekitike, signalling a period of active recruitment as the club prepares for the challenges ahead.
