Christopher Nkunku Nears Chelsea Exit as AC Milan Agreement Reached

Chelsea is reportedly on the verge of finalizing the sale of Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan, marking the end of a challenging stint for the French forward at Stamford Bridge. Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig with high expectations, has struggled to replicate his earlier form due to persistent injuries and stiff competition for playing time. During his two seasons with the Blues, he managed just 23 goal involvements, a far cry from his prolific output of 87 goals and assists combined during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 campaigns at Leipzig.

Chelsea will cash in on a fringe forward to make room in squad.

AC Milan has emerged as the frontrunner for Nkunku's signature, with reports suggesting a total package worth up to €42 million (£36.2 million) has been agreed upon between the clubs. The deal includes a sell-on clause, potentially benefiting Milan in the future if they decide to part ways with the player. Personal terms are already settled, and Nkunku has reportedly been granted permission to travel for his medical examination, signaling the imminent completion of the transfer.

The sale of Nkunku is expected to provide Chelsea with much-needed funds, which could be reinvested in their pursuit of other targets. The club is reportedly close to securing Alejandro Garnacho, while Fermín López is being eyed as an opportunistic addition to bolster the team's No. 10 role, especially with Nkunku's departure on the horizon.
