Fabio Silva Joins Borussia Dortmund in €19.6 Million Move

Borussia Dortmund has bolstered its attacking options with the acquisition of 23-year-old Portuguese forward Fabio Silva from Premier League side Wolves. The talented striker has signed a five-year deal with the German giants in a transfer reportedly worth just over €19.6 million (£17 million).

Silva, who joined Wolves in 2020 for a then-club-record £35 million from Porto, faced challenges in establishing himself in the Premier League, scoring only five goals during his tenure. He subsequently embarked on multiple loan spells, gaining experience at clubs such as Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers, and most recently, Las Palmas.

Fabio Silva has signed for Borussia Dortmund.

It was during his stint at Las Palmas that Silva found his most prolific form in Europe's top five leagues, netting 10 goals in 22 LaLiga starts, a performance that undoubtedly caught the eye of Dortmund's scouting department.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Silva stated, "Signing with a club like Borussia Dortmund is something very special for me. This club has tremendous prestige, not just in Germany but throughout Europe. I know BVB are a passionate club with incredible fans. To now be part of it myself fills me with pride and excitement. I want to settle in quickly, give everything I have, and do my part to help the team be successful."

Silva will wear the number 21 shirt for Dortmund and joins an already formidable attacking lineup that includes the likes of Serhou Guirassy, Maximilian Beier, Karim Adeyemi, and Julien Duranville, promising an exciting season for the Black and Yellows.

Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, highlighted the qualities Silva brings to the squad. "Fabio brings a lot of quality: goal threat, intensity, pace, and he can be used flexibly in multiple positions. All of this, along with the fact that he is a hard-working, success-driven striker, makes this transfer extremely valuable for us," Kehl remarked.

Borussia Dortmund's next challenge will be a home fixture against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, where fans will eagerly anticipate seeing their new signing in action.
